John L. Long, 71, of Mulberry Grove, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’ Fallon, Illinois.

He was born November 24, 1951, in Highland, IL, the son of John Clinton & Dolly Doris (Massey) Long. He worked as a boiler maker for Local 363 out of Mascoutah, IL; served his country in the United States Army from 1971 to 1974; member of the VFW and Moose Lodge in Vandalia, IL and the American Legion in Keysport, IL; and was an avid hunter and fisherman. John liked to make everyone laugh and often liked to poke fun at his co-workers.
He is survived by: Mother – Dolly Long, Greenville, IL; Ex-Wife – Baerbel G. Long, Mulberry Grove, IL; Sons – Michael R. Long, Alton, IL and John K. Long & Misty, Calvert City, KY; Daughters – Barbara Daugherty & Buzz, Vandalia, IL, Savanah M. Long, Vandalia, IL, and Chelsy A. Long, Mulberry Grove, IL; Grandchildren – Alec, Andrew, Kady, Kaden, Mason, Mia, Miles and Kyler; Brother – Tom Long, Mulberry Grove, IL; and Sister – Kathie Valentine & David, Kirkwood, MO.
Preceded in death by: His Father.
A celebration of life for John Long will be held March 5th, from 2-5, at the Vandalia Moose Lodge.
