James “Jim” P. Kaylor
March 4, 1939 – June 25, 2022
He was born on March 4, 1939, in Peoria, OK, the son of Albert J. and Maude L. (Kepley) Kaylor. Jim married Carolyn “Kay” (Maynard) Kaylor in Alton, IL, on April 22, 1960.
Jim is a Veteran of the United States Army, where he was a Sergeant 1st Class. He Joined Boilermakers Local 363 in 1975 and retired in 2006. Jim was a member of the 1st Baptist Church of Cottage Hills. A member of NRA, SASS, and AMA. Jim was a pilot since 1957 and loved to fly. He enjoyed cowboy shooting and classified as a gunfighter, he placed 1st and 2nd several times in the SASS competitions. Jim also loved to ride dirt bikes and enjoyed camping and being outside, as well as spending time with his family and friends.
Along with his wife, Kay, he is survived by daughter, Ardie (Steve) Johnson of Prairietown; grandchildren, Steve (Pam) Johnson, Jr. of Alton, and Jamie (Kevin) McGarvey of Bethalto; great-grandchildren, Cameron, Katie and Jakob; siblings, Jack (Pat) Kaylor of Dorchester and William “Bill” (Delores) Kaylor of Wood River; a sister-in-law, Ruth Maynard-Wilson of Bethalto; his cat “Lovey”; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be on Friday, July 1, 2022, from 4 to 7 pm at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto, where funeral service will be on Saturday, July 2, 2022, at 11 am. Pastor Warren Brown will officiate.
