Marion- Scott David Saffelder, age 59, of rural Marion, passed away at 6:20pm on Sunday, July 7, 2019 at his home. Scott was born in Chicago on September 18, 1959, the son of J. Neil and Cleta (Gareis) Saffelder. He had worked as a Boilermaker out of Local 363. Scott was a proud United States Navy Veteran. Survivors include his girlfriend- Jo Anna Archibald of Marion, Brother- Neil and Karen Saffelder of Creal Springs, Sister- Gayle and Scott Phelps of Marion, Niece- Shelby Phelps and Chris Goode of Evansville, IN, Nephew- Connor Phelps of Greeley, CO, Great Nephew- Javan Walston of Marion. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother- Russell Saffelder, niece- Casey Saffelder, and nephew- Noah Saffelder.
Graveside services will be held at 10am on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at Rose Hill Cemetery with Father Brian Barker officiating. Military honors will be provided by Marion’s VFW and American Legion Posts with assistance from the United States Navy Ritual Team. A time of visitation will be held from 9-10am on Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion.
